CRAW

The Agricultural Research Centre is an Organisation of Public Interest established in Wallonia (southern region of Belgium) for more than a century. With a workforce of about 500, the CRAW carries out applied research and services activities in the field of agriculture, forestry and the management of the environment.

The pledge of the Biomass and Bioenergy Unit is to contribute to socioeconomic development and to a healthier environment by using biomass both more completely and more efficiently in energy and non-food industrial utilization sectors. The activities of the Unit encompass four main areas: biomass mobilization, conditioning, energy and industrial utilization. These undertakings include, besides technical and scientific components, socioeconomic and environmental aspects in industrialized countries, as well as in emerging and developing countries (Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean).
